ABOUT US
History of the Hall of Fame

The idea for a Hall of Fame to recognize outstanding athletes and contributors to the Alma High School Athletic Program had been bandied about in the local community several times over the years. While the idea always seemed to have merit, serious organizational efforts never materialized.

In early 2007, the idea for a Hall of Fame finally gained enough momentum to reach the office of the Alma Schools Athletic Director. After receiving project approval from the administration of Alma Public Schools, the Athletic Director accepted the charge of assembling a Hall of Fame Committee to coordinate and promote the activities and interests of the Alma Schools Athletic Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame Committee was comprised of athletic coaches both past and present, AlmaHigh School teachers both past and present, graduates of AlmaPublic Schools, and respected community members. Sharing ideas and strategies, Committee members worked quickly to develop Hall of Fame By-Laws, to coordinate a Hall of Fame election process, to establish levels of expectation and professionalism, to coordinate an annual Hall of Fame Induction Banquet, and to identify fund-raising sources.

The Alma Schools Athletic Hall of Fame held its inaugural Induction Banquet and Ceremony in the Fall of 2007, and immediately captured the imagination and support of Panther fans across the country. Today, the Hall of Fame Committee continues to establish new and exciting goals and projects designed to expand the scope and responsibility of the Alma Schools Athletic Hall of Fame.
