Joe Stripp’s All-American Baseball School in Florida,
where Babe Ruth was an instructor.
“Semi Pro Sensation” was an agile infielder
and often compared to Charlie Gehringer.
Carl’s minor league career started in 1940
and he last took the field during the 1952 campaign.
Signed by the St. Louis Cardinals (N.L.) in 1940
and played with minor league affiliates
the Cooleemee Cards and Union City Greyhounds.
In 1942 Carl enlisted in the Reserve Army Air Corp.
The St. Louis Browns (A.L.) signed him in 1942,
and he played throughout their farm system with the
Spokane Indians, San Antonio Missions, Elmira Pioneers, Palatka Azaleas and AAA ball with the Toledo Mud Hens.
Memorial funds contributed to the Alma Little League Equipment Fund.
